Recycled Business Cards

This is my new business card. It was printed on recycled plastic. I wanted a card that would with-stand the test of time through out form and fashion. I also added a three inch ruler to also make the card useful beyond my contact info. My new cards have a number of physical characteristics that make them unusually well suited to a handful of alternative tasks: they are lightweight, thin, compact, waterproof, machine “true” and impervious to heat and cold.
Here are 10 other alternative uses for my card.

1. Ice scraped
2. Lock pick
3. Surfboard wax scraper
4. Guitar pick
5. Bookmark
6. Grout/caulking tool
7. Cake knife
8. Finger splint
9. Paint masking
10. Straightedge

Logo Published in 1000 Retail Graphics Book

Last week I notice one of my logos was publish in a Rockport design book. It was a logo I designed back in 2006 for Amy Hall Designs. The book has a ton of work and is a great time saver for short deadlines. You can order the book at amazon.

New Gonzales Ag Site Launched

Since 1999 Green Valley Farm Supply, Inc. has made a commitment to provide superior and consistent customer service to the agricultural industry while maintaining competitive pricing and building lasting relationships. Our challenge was to position the organization to reflect its values online. There web site was ten years old and had long out lived it’s life. With the initial market research and two photo-shoots the site was pulled together. Casella Creative designed a clean professional country feel website while increasing brand authenticity. We created a new iconography that could be passed down throughout their brand. The site is also ipad and iphone compatible. View the new site at www.gvfsinc.com

Logo Design for Tahoe Contractor

Tahoe contractor logo

ACE Solutions a general contractor in the North Lake Tahoe area contacted Casella to embark on an identity overhaul. Owner Andrew Eisemann has strong roots in skateboarding culture and wanted his logo to express that. The mark was inspired by a skull and crossbones a common skateboarding mark. The paint brush and the hammer both have spades on the handles to represent “ACE” Eisemann’s initials.  The colors were chosen because of his allegiance for the San Francisco Giants baseball team.  Web site coming soon…

Salinas Valley Agriculture Photography

Two early mornings in April we got up to photograph the daily activities of Green Valley Farm Supply, Inc.  The purpose was to start generating content for their new web site that Casella is currently building. Here are some of the photos that were captured. They will be entered in our stock photo library that will be released later this year. Visit ChuckCasella.com to see more photos.

New Iconography for Salinas Client

The icon set was custom designed for our client Digital Schools. They were looking for a simple navigation system for part of their online program that manages school districts. It’s like Quickbooks on steroids. They choose to use icons because people recognize symbols before they read text. Each icon can be reduced to 16px X 16px.

Salinas Ag Field Photo

This is just a great photo I snapped while driving down 101. The photo really speaks to the great Ag history during the Steinbeck period. When the stock photo library is released there will be a whole section dedicated to aged photos.

If You Pay Peanuts, You Get Monkeys.

Great article by Doug Bartow. I couldn’t have said it any better.

There’s been quite a bit of heated discussion in the design world in the past few years regarding speculative work and crowdsourcing via online logo design sites and contests. Professional designers are calling foul over the degradation of the traditional designer/client relationship and the threat of losing potential work from design contests that reward the few, and take advantage of the many. Contest organizers maintain that crowdsourcing design promotes a free and global market and they’re simply facilitating communication between clients and potential designers while building an online creative community.

Trade Advertisement for Beer Optics

This was an advertisement created for the 2011 Nascar program. This project exemplifies the nimbleness of Casella Creative. The client came to us with a short deadline and no content. With five business days left, the ad was shot in Casella studio, laid out, signed off and at the printer in four days. To see more product photos visit chuckcasella.com.
